Nooktide vs Fantastical
Fantastical is a well-known calendar app for Apple devices and beyond, and it is good at what it does. Nooktide is a newer iPhone app built around a different question. This page explains the difference so you can pick the one that fits, and says plainly where Fantastical is the better choice.
Publisher note: we make Nooktide. Every Fantastical statement below links to a public source and carries the date we checked it. Information about Fantastical can change; see Flexibits for current details.
The short version
- Choose Fantastical if you want a calendar that works across Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, with scheduling links (Openings) and family or team plans.
- Choose Nooktide if your main problem is "when should I fit this?" and you want the app to propose two or three times with a reason, place habits around your plans, and shift the rest of your day when you run late (Pro).
- You can use both. Both connect to iCloud and Google calendars, so events can show up in both. Try it with a separate calendar first.

Where Fantastical is stronger
- Platform reach: Mac, Windows, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro as well as iPhone. Nooktide is designed for iPhone only.
- Sharing availability: Openings lets other people pick a slot from times you set; Nooktide has no equivalent.
- Plans for groups: Flexibits offers a Family plan for up to 5 people and Team plans.
- More calendar services: Todoist and CalDAV are listed among Fantastical's supported services.
Where Nooktide is different
- It answers "when?" A request like "45 min run tomorrow morning" returns up to three options and the reason for each.
- Later + Find a time: write the task now and find its time later.
- Habits and a weekly focus goal are placed around your plans. The free plan includes 1 habit; unlimited habits are Pro.
- Shift my day (Pro): running late? Shift the rest of today in one tap, with a preview first. Meetings with other people are never moved.
- No account. No tracking. No account is needed, and Nooktide doesn't track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- Pro adds Shift my day, unlimited habits, editing by typing, Siri, widgets, a Sunday weekly review with weekly plan notifications, rescheduling of missed habit sessions, and Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones.
